A warm summer breeze blew through the park, whistling through the trees. It was nights like these that Drew most enjoyed, the peace and quiet was irresistible. Though he didn’t much like being alone, it was nice to have some time to think. The night sky was absolutely beautiful and it made Drew smile. He loved to go out at night and draw the stars, connecting the dots of the many constellations. When he wasn’t drawing he would lay about and just gaze up at the sky.
Being surrounded by nature was an amazing feeling, it gave him a sense of freedom that he would never get during the daytime. When the island was alive, people moving around, going about their daily routines. Most of them probably never experienced the freedom he had once had. Many of the inhabitants had been born on the island. Andrew could still remember when he had arrived on the island, though he preferred not to think about it. It wasn’t the best experience. Shaking the thoughts from his mind, he walked up to his favourite resting spot. Lying beneath the large tree was wonderful, he could stare up at the sky, or gaze into the branches. Attempting to guess what animals lived there.
Another gust of wind blew through the park, bringing with it the scent of flowers. Andrew breathed deeply, taking in the scent before exhaling slowly.
“It’s absolutely beautiful out here, maybe I’ll sketch the sky later. Yeah that’d be wonderful.”
He closed his eyes and relaxed, allowing himself to melt into the soft grass.
