For the most part, Nicolas looks like an average human with very few zombie related traits since he’s only classified as such for being dead yet alive. For the most part, Nicolas is a rather tall and skinny fellow with only a little bit of muscle to his body. However his skinny and tall frame along with his pale skin pigment tends to make people think that Nicolas is sick rather than a different species. A pair of dull hazel eyes doesn’t help his case either since they also suggest the possibility of sickness. It’s common for Nicolas’s hair to be a mess of sandy blond locks that usually curl into various knots. As of clothing, Nicolas is often wearing heavier clothes to keep himself warm since he’s usually very cold. It’s common to see Nicolas wearing a scarf and jacket around a majority of the time, even during the summer months. In winter he usually pulls on more than any normal person in hopes of feeling warm inside the shield of clothing he wears. Hiding inside his coat is usually his little brown mouse named Nemo who moves about the jacket as he pleases. His small brown mouse has dark brown fur, a light brown underbelly and chest and a pink nose. The creature is surprisingly obedient and usually doesn’t reveal himself unless he deems it necessary. He rarely speaks around groups of people due to his self-conscious attitude towards stuttering. Although he only stutters around people he hasn't been well acquainted with. Nicolas likes making good first impressions and figures his stuttering doesn't help accomplish that. On rare occasion his cheeks will flush red with embarrassment, but commonly Nicolas won't show much emotion. A lack of emotion may seem a constant at first, but there are still times when he will crack a smile. During a first encounter with Nicolas, a few may find him shy or anxious. His shyness is only slight, but usually causes him to stutter. However Nicolas is capable of maintaining eye contact with those he meets. A majority of the time when he meets individuals that are new to him, he will be anxious about making a good first impression. These feelings of anxiety, shyness and self-consciousness are what causes Nicolas to prefer speaking via sign language rather than vocally. Once someone gets to know him better, he is able to speak without stuttering on a single word. There always seems to be a kindness to Nicolas's nature, especially since he sees kindness as a good way to make a first impression. Most who become Nicolas's friend will find that he is rather loyal to those who reach the category. However Nicolas is more loyal to his twin, Kelpie, than anyone else. Even though they work on different sides of the spectrum, Nicolas still has loyalty to Kelpie. When out in public, Nicolas is always noting his surroundings with observant eyes. His alertness to his surroundings are very keen since Nicolas likes to keep an eye on situations, but this doesn't mean Nicolas is merely an observer. If he feels the need to take action, Nicolas will usually act in a clever and cautious manner. He's courageous, but hesitates in order to pick a route of action that will lead to the least amount of damage. Acting on a whim is rare for Nicolas, but nonetheless he will do so if deemed necessary. Most plans are creative and contain a cleverness to them that do go wrong on some occasion. Nicolas is a hardworking fellow, he uses slaves away at doing various types of art along with his job. However despite his hardworking efforts, Nicolas is very disorganized and impatient. He tends to lose things and tries his darnedest to not waste time on finding his papers, supplies or whatever that may get lost in the disorganized mess. Thankfully his determination has him taking long periods of time to find anything that he may have lost in a mess. This trait usually doesn't infiltrate his planning system. Due to the fact that Nicolas isn't socially adept, he can usually be rather blunt about some ideas. Surprisingly, Nicolas can be a bit devious and quirky at times. Although he isn't seen as the one to start mischief, he still rather devious in some activities. With his formerly troublesome behaviour, Nicolas has managed to keep some of his devious nature. Then there are the times when Nicolas turns quirky. Random traits will pop up for a period of time, and even on occasion remove his reserved state of mind. Although most don't suspect it, Nicolas can be a tad bit on the sarcastic side. These sarcastic comments usually get launched at people he knows. the ability necromancy oo Offensive. Well Disciplined. Gives the user the ability to control dead creatures, life force, souls and spirits. Nicolas tries his best to avoid using this ability since it disturbs some individuals. He's capable to willing corpses to do actions he asks very easily. Nicolas can also see in the eyes of his corpses, but he can't sense anything else. Seeing through the corpses eyes usually renders Nicolas's senses useless, making him unaware of what's around him. This gets to a point where if someone were to shake Nicolas, he would be incapable of even feeling the motion around him. If knocked unconscious, all of Nicolas’s necromancy ceases working. When Nicolas isn't looking through a corpse’s eyes, he must control them from where he stands. Unlike most necromancers who can bring that can bring corpses back to life, Nicolas is completely unable to do so. Nicolas already lacks life force, making it impossible for him to bring anything back to life permanently. He can also sense the life force in other things around him, making it easy for Nicolas to know whether someone is dead or alive. Any further control in life force is limited for Nicolas due to his own lacking in life force. Although Nicolas uses these sorts of abilities less, he’s able to manipulate and summons souls and/or spirits. Stealing the souls of others isn’t possible for Nicolas since he lacks training in doing so, but spirits are a different story. Nicolas can contact and summon spirits, which on rare occasions he can persuade to do him a few favours. These favours are usually activities like scaring people or moving objects, but these movements are usually slight. Unlike most people, Nicolas can see any spirits that linger around an area without having to feel the telltale signs of a ghost. This ability also allows Nicolas to perform real seances, but he rarely says or signs a word about it, mostly because he prefers if people didn’t come asking him about it. Summoning spirits takes a lot of focus and usually requires a name so he can call them to aid him, however it’s the spirit’s choice unless Nicolas has the will-power to summon it. His abilities also grant him the ability to make spirits heard by those who aren’t necromancers. This ability also gave him the nickname Necro. unlively features oo Passive. Natural. Features associated with Nicolas’s species that are often more negative than good. These unpleasantries include: constantly being cold, low red blood cell count, pale skin, lack of pain sensory, lack of soul and a small lacking in life force. Due to his low blood levels, Nicolas is regularly cold and has difficulty retaining heat. This often leads to Nicolas’s skin being very cold and pale in pigment since Nicolas’s body requires less blood. The lower blood content has made it common for Nicolas to wear jackets to keep himself warm, even during the summer months. This nuisance of a trait makes blood precious to Nicolas along with doctors having to put an artificial blood in his veins to makes certain that Nicolas would be alright. However these artificial blood types usually lack platelets, but are one of the very few things that can be put into Nicolas’s veins. Due to this lack of platelets, small cuts usually bleed a lot more than usual. Since Nicolas isn’t completely alive, he’s barely able to sense pain, which is a burden for the type of blood he has. Although the lack in pain sensory tends to have its uses when Nicolas gets hurt, but must press on. However he’s usually cautious due to the type of blood within his veins. His lack of soul usually makes him feel a bit empty, but Nicolas usually isn’t bothered by the idea. Since Nicolas doesn’t have life force of his own, his is rather weak due to the fact. This has also played a part in making Nicolas unable to create permanent life in a corpse. healing factor oo Passive. Medium Discipline. The ability to heal physical injuries faster than average. Nicolas is able to heal his injuries at a significantly faster rate than that of an average human being. However in order to heal his wounds, Nicolas must focus on the wound and will for it to mend itself. Usually to assist in focusing he will place a hand on the injury and focus on it mending itself together. If focus is broken, Nicolas’s injuries will cease healing and remain the way they are. The healing process causes a majority of Nicolas’s other senses to turn off, leaving his necromancy creation to fend for themselves. hemokinesis oo Offensive/Defensive. Medium Discipline. The ability to control blood and manipulate it. For the most part, Nicolas isn’t the best with this ability and rarely uses it. He’s only able to control the real blood that runs through his veins, the artifical will remained uneffected. Controlling the blood of other people is impossible for Nicolas. Since he can only control his own blood, which includes manipulating to make weapons and shields, Nicolas will only use this ability if in a dire situation. The doctors had done all they could do, but alas the infant lingered on the borders of death’s door. His life force and spirit were fading rapidly, and every doctor and nurse helping Sarah Lortain were certain his death was inevitable. However, Nicolas’s biological mother decided that she wasn’t going to allow this infant to meet his untimely demise. Sarah was a necromancer, and thus she managed to bring the infant back to life, however with some unforeseen circumstances. Opposed to being a regular gifted, Nicolas became what most people would consider a zombie. Over in another room, a second child had been born with no head, and was somehow alive. This infant would become known as his half twin, Kelpie. After the incident at the hospital, Nicolas and Kelpie were handed over to a married couple known as Paul and James. For the most part, life was average, or at least about as average as it could get for having a dullahan and a zombie for sons. When Nicolas and Kelpie began attending middle school, that was when things began to change. People began to laugh at how much Nicolas stuttered, which caused him to prefer sign language instead of speaking. The pair also began getting a lot more mischievous and rebellious at this age since they began to steal and start fights with other students. Consistently they would get in trouble with their parents and teachers, but yet it almost seemed that they didn’t care at all. Each talk just became another boring lecture given by someone who attempted to use age and parental power in a futile attempt to change them. Despite being a troublemaker, Nicolas did well in his studies, which surprised a majority of his teachers. Due to his high grades, his teachers often began using the threat of things ending up on his record, but Nicolas ignored them. As Nicolas and Kelpie began to enter their high school years, their crimes became serious to the point that they ended up in a holding cell for vandalizing their neighbor’s home at the age of 16. Spray paint, destroyed property, you name it and the half twins had done it to that house. Well they were in the cell, a police officer began speaking about how their acts affect people and about justice. Unlike every other lecture, this one meant something to Nicolas. Deep down inside, Nicolas actually felt bad for all the troublesome things he down, from past all the way up to the present. After it was confirmed that the couple wouldn’t press charges and the pleading of their fathers, Nicolas and Kelpie were freed and got another lecture from their parents. When the pair got home, Nicolas went straight to the neighbor's house before anyone could speak a word. The wife of the couple was out in the garden trying to think of what she would do with her flowers. Nicolas’s parents were shocked and happy when they heard him offer to help and even work off the damages. That entire week became a lot of hard work for the neighbor’s alongside all the people he previously hurt. What the officer had said had inspired the making of a dream, Nicolas wanted to help enforce the law and help people. He gave apologies to everyone he had hurt, even going the length to try and get replacements for anything he had broken. Heck, he even replaced a girl’s teddy that he had ripped when he was only 10. Immediately after graduating, Nicolas began to chase after his hopeful career. It was easy to say that chasing it was a bit difficult given his troublesome history. However with a little assistance and some persuasion, Nicolas was able to get into schooling. It was hard work and a majority of the people there were a lot bigger than Nicolas. However where Nicolas lacked in brawn he made up for with outstanding intelligence and understanding. Before the physical testing, the skeptical law officers approached Nicolas and offered him a place as a detective if he transferred into doing a criminology studies. With some thought, Nicolas accepted the offer and began studying in criminology opposed to becoming an actual cop. Understanding the studies came very easily and eventually, Nicolas graduated and began his work as a detective for the police station. As for his brother Kelpie, that became a story that seemed completely opposite. Around the age of 21, Nicolas got himself a pet mouse and named him Nemo. Nemo was surprisingly smart and often took rides on Nicolas’s shoulders to the point that Nemo went everywhere with Nicolas. At some point, Nicolas moved out into an apartment with his half twin.
