”Grrr!” The girl growled angrily, after hours of searching she had yet to find what she was looking for. With the sheer amount of shops there had to be one that sold cell phones, or at least electronics. She was tired and ready to just give up and leave. Walking up to the fountain she sat down on the edge and sighed in defeat. She felt as though she had looked everywhere, but hadn’t had any luck. She had begun to feel uncomfortable, being in public too long always gave her the same feeling. She was always paranoid that people were talking behind her back, calling her a monster and pulling their kids to safety. But maybe it was just that, paranoia and nothing else.
She was vaguely warm in the outfit she had chosen today. Despite it still being summer she was wearing a longish striped dress that went down to her mid thigh, it looked more like a sweater to her, along with a pair of black knee high boots. She had been in a rush that morning and didn’t feel like taking the time to match two pieces of clothing. So now here she was, in the middle of the mall in a dress on a hot summer day, pouting in front of a fountain. With nothing else to do, she pulled out the coin she had found on the floor earlier and tossed it over her head into the fountain and made a wish.
“I guess I should look around one more time before I leave. Maybe I should look for a job while I’m here. I really need money and hiding out in my house isn’t going to get me any.” Fay stood up and bent over slightly to brush off her dress. When she stood upright again a stranger bumped into her, nearly knocking her into the fountain, but luckily caught her before she did. “I’m so sorry ma’am, wasn’t paying attention.” Half of her wanted to make a rude comment, but the other half told her to just brush it off and let them go on their way. The nice side of her won that day. Waving a hand dismissively, she smiled and the man walked away. When he did she shook her head and began mumbling to herself. “He apologized, it’s not like he was intending to run into me. I really need to work on my social skills.”
