THE SETTING

This thread will help assist with answering any questions that the plot may have missed. Certain sections of the island will be described and explained to help members and guest understand what the island is like. We recommend reading this in order to know how everything works and what occurred in certain sections.

THE LABORATORY

Originally the abandoned laboratory on the island carried out gifted and monster related experiments on regular humans and those with abilities. Their experiments mostly consisted of testing the capabilities of gifted, monsters, gods and demigods in an attempt to get information about their DNA. The laboratory was open for a long time, but in 1905 the laboratory made a serious mistake with a gifted that could transform materials into explosive ones. A hole was blown into the side and monsters, gifted, gods and demigods began to flee, very few being successfully getting to the train in order to leave the island. A good portion of the laboratory still stands, but there's a large hole in the side of the laboratory.

PARADISE

Paradise is a city built by the government in order to imprison the powerful beings both found and made during the experimenting in the laboratory. Upon hearing the about the explosion, government officials immediately responded and started creating the city prison known as Paradise. They hired many workers in order to make the process go faster; this caused buildings to spring up in quick succession. During this building phase, the officials were forced to ignore the the gifted creatures, allowing more to catch a lucky break and escape the island. The ones that already escaped began to have children and populate the earth with these beings. By 1908 the city was completed and they began hunting down all gifted, monsters, gods and demigods in hope of masking anything similar or relating in the experiments. They added magical barrier around the entire island, making it so if anyone tried to leave via flight, swimming, teleportation, etc. they would end up back at the island. For flight and swimming, the person could go out in one direction and never turn only to find themselves mysteriously back at Paradise. Then teleportation, even outside of the usual realm, wouldn't work outside of the island's boundaries. This barrier also hides the island from the outside world, making it impossible to see or touch. Somehow, the train, which is heavily guarded is the only way out of Paradise, like it was before. However, things changed from the first time people fled the island and a second barrier was added around the train station, rendering all abilities used by the island's prisoners useless. This barrier makes it so nobody can use the abilities they are supposed to have, but something of such power could only be maintained in a small area. They also still wanted to see what these creature's abilities were capable of.

As technology and building supplies changed, the government officials made more changes to Paradise to help keep the prisoners comfortable. Soon technology like cellphones were added, but the barrier blocked all signals from going outside of Paradise. Most online forums or games were blocked or meddled with so the person couldn't speak, but just view or play. This strange phenomenon in the communications has made it impossible to contact someone from the outside world through any means. Guns were almost banned on Paradise, the government constantly made certain that Paradise only received stun-guns, insufficient amounts of bullets to siege the station, and lastly only a small amount of firearms were distributed. Any other weapons, they were more lenient about distribution.
