FAQ

The FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) is meant to lower the amount of questions members and guests may ask and to clear some things related to the site. Questions that staff members would prefer not to hear will also be added here in order to avoid getting asked about it.

1. Are applications a requirement?

Yes, staff members like to have control over perfection and the strength of powers, thus it's a requirement. This helps staff to also watch for copying and know which characters belonged to which groups along with which characters belong to who.

2. Can I be a staff member?

No, unless there are staff auditions out this question shouldn't be asked. Even if there are staff auditions there is still a chance that you may not be accepted. Those who wish to be staff should keep in mind that staff auditions will most likely be a rare event on the site.

3. What should I do if I see someone break a rule?

If it's a simple accident then you may give them a polite reminder. For other rules that could lead to possible banning, please message a staff member. We also ask that if it's in a thread or post to report it so the staff can find it quicker or send us a link. If a rule has been broken through PM than you may send us an image, summarize what they said/did or copy and paste the messages sent.

4. Can characters speak other languages? If so what are the guidelines?

Characters may speak other languages, but for dialogue sake we ask that they're able to communicate in some way. We'd prefer if characters that don't speak the same language have a rough understanding of English. All words that are in another language should have a translatio in OOC brackets at least.

5. Can characters be animals?

No, all characters should be remotely human. However creatures like shapeshifters and werewolves are allowed.

6. What should I do if I see someone break a rule?

7. How do I change my display name and what should I put as a display name?

To change your display name, press the profile tab that's underneath the banner. Once you're in the account's profile, select the button that says "Edit Profile". This will take you to another profile related screen that has tabs above the editable sections. Among these tab should be one labelled "Personal" which will take you to the section where you can change the account's display name. The display name should be the first and last name of the character it is assigned to. You may put common nicknames as the first name or you are allowed to put the names like this: First "Nickname" Last.

8. May I use characters that have been created on other sites?

Yes, you may. All we ask is that a biography is pieced together with the template used by the site. Those who may be transferring over from other sites that Chibi Magician & Cyn administrate on will find that the biography template is similar. Characters transferred from those sites may just adjust their history and add any new sections.

9. Why are members forbidden from sharing their personal information on The Train to Paradise?

Sharing personal information is forbidden for safety purposes. We're not a site designed to share personal information, thus we prefer members to remain cautious and share no personal information.

10. If I have a question and would prefer to message a staff member privately, may I message the staff member's Chatango account?

Yes, but it's probably better to message the staff member's site account.

11. Is a Chatango account required to speak in the site's chat?

Certainly not. Members or guests can chat as an anon or with the use of a temporary name. However, accounts allow members to tag you in the site chat along with the ability to use Chatango's private messaging system.

12. Who are the moderators for the chat?

All staff members on The Train to Paradise double of the chat moderators. All chat moderators should have a badge beside their name. These badges will either be a yellow shield-like one or a rectangular black one that says "STAFF" in white text.

13. If we can find an anime version of a cartoon character, can it be used as a Face Claim?

Yes, we give a lot of options. This also branches out to human versions of animal or animal-like characters. (ex. Bugs Bunny, human versions of Pokemon)

14. Are Face Claims mandatory?

Nope, characters can be original designs or general descriptions that don't have a face claim. Character designs can even be drawings if the creator or somebody else drew your character.

15. Why can members only have one god account?

The number of gods on the site are meant to be a low count, thus members can only have one account that's labelled a god.

16. How long is each year in role-play?

Each year in real life is one year in role-play.

17. What powers are considered over-powered?

Mostly powers that make it impossible for the person to be harmed physically, mentally or even by sickness. Invincibility is one that we ban since it's simply a nuisance to deal with and of course renders the user invincible. A majority of the time staff will state if your powers are simply too powerful for the site and ask you to change it on the spot. If you need to ask about a power, feel free to message and staff member and they can inform you if it's too powerful.

18. Why must monsters first label abilities associated with their species before listing any abilities outside of it?

This is to avoid making monsters a master race in the role-play. We prefer seeing what monster attributes the character receives before they pile on powers outside of those attributes. The other reason we do this is to allow members to create interesting characters with different abilities despite being a similar species. However all attributes don't have to be added to the character, as in you could have a vampire that has super strength, but doesn't have super speed to fit a different power. As a side note, god's powers should be related with what kind of god they are. Example, the Horseman of Death having powers related with souls and death.

19. Are there any gods that are off limits?

Any gods that are invincible would be off limits, but for the most part it's open.

20. How big should paragraphs be for the application?

At the very least, four sentences for small paragraphs. Big paragraphs should be eight sentences long.

21. Why can't my character be an animal with powers?

This role-play is meant to be human based, and thus we prefer humanoid creatures that can communicate with each other. Plus having an animal character would limit the locations that the character can travel.

22. Can characters leave the island?

No characters are allowed to leave the island.
