The conversation had been quite nice and Fay was glad she had chose today to go to the library. This guy seemed used to casually making rude remarks, as if it was just part of his personality. It’s not like she hadn’t ever been rude to someone else, she was actually rude quite often. She shouldn’t have been so quick to judge Brasti. His response intrigued her. His age? What did that mean, could he be older than he looked? She was sure she wasn’t the only immortal on this island, she would honestly be surprised if she was. This day just got more and more interesting as it went on.
Fay was no stranger to changing hobbies. It was just something that came with living for a long time. Things could get boring easily and if you couldn’t find a way to keep your life interesting you would probably go mad. At the moment she was really into reading and writing, both activities kept her busy for long periods of time and rarely ever became boring. The imagination that came with writing was amazing she had probably written a book or two in her lifetime, maybe more.
“I have the same problem, though I probably don’t switch hobbies as often as you. I can definitely understand though, things can get boring when you do the same thing for too long.”
Fay hoped that she was being subtle, she didn’t want to just blurt out ‘Oh hey, I’m immortal and I’ve lived for over a hundred years.’ That probably wouldn’t go over too well. It would probably alienate her even more than her looks did and then she’d probably be alone again. The very thought of that made her shudder with fear. She hated thinking about things like that, it always made her upset and angry. Though, she was probably better off than a lot of the people who were actually experimented on in the laboratory. Shaking her head she did her best to force the thoughts from her mind. Brasti probably thought she was weird or something with all of the sudden movements she had done in the short span of time in which she had revisited her past.
“So, anyways. I’m not trying to pry or anything, but what do you do in your spare time, do you have a job or anything? I’m kinda running out of conversational topics, sorry. I hate to admit it, but I’m much better at arguing or shouting insults at rude people than I am at having casual conversations.”
She blushed slightly, embarrassed. She couldn’t believe that she’d actually admitted that. Fay hadn’t felt embarrassed in a long time. The emotion was so normal, so...human, that it took her by surprise. If this was what it took to feel human again, then maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t so bad after all.
